UNPO’s unique SpeakOut! human rights training series provides concrete steps for how youth activists can use the standards, principles and methods of human rights to raise awareness for and combat entrenched discrimination, marginalization and injustice in their communities, connect with and expand the circle of allies in the larger global human rights community and enhance accountability of human rights violators. The aim of SpeakOut! is to train young activists in how to become reliable channels of human rights advocacy.
SpeakOut! consists of a two-day programme of lectures and interactive workshops which bring together youth representatives from UNPO Members and other young human rights activists to give them necessary means and skills to be effective in incorporating human rights advocacy in their work. Using tools such as UNPO-designed study materials and case studies, participants will gain insights into a variety of issues such as the “Do’s & Don’t’s” of effective human rights advocacy, United Nations tools and mechanisms and the use of communications and social media for impactful human rights campaigns. This year’s workshop will put a particular focus on advocacy in European institution.
